The Production Team
Coming originally from a technical background, we have produced over 800 videos and TV content for all major broadcasters, often specialising in making digestible stories out of technical and scientific concepts that are otherwise challenging for non-technical people to digest.
We have worked with many talented people over the past 10 years in production - and assembled a team of passionate multi-award-winning filmmakers to tell these stories of the over-achieving space scientists and produce a world-class cinema-quality end result.
Producer/ Director / Researcher
Darryl Thoms (BE Eng UNSW). A fourth generation engineer, Darryl started working in technology R&D, but transitioned to work photographer in Tokyo for 2 years, before returning to Australia to start a career in video production–focusing on PR and science and technology.
He has over 10 years experience writing, producing and directing over 800 video projects, more than 50% of them overseas, managing budgets over $1.6m pa, and even a satellite TV network.
He co-founded Xorigin, an APAC-wide production company–producing video and advertising for some of the worlds' biggest advertising and digital agencies behind the curtain, and working directly creating branded and sponsored content.
Co-writer / Editor/ 1st AD
Steve Anthopoulos has worked on Xorigin projects for the past 8 years across Australia, Singapore and northern China.
Steve is a highly efficient, fast-working multi-award winning innovative director, writer and editor in his own right, bringing a creative and human story-telling angle to even the most technical of productions.

Lead Cinematographer
Ella Gibbins - a multi award winning Cinematographer has worked with Xorigin on over 200 video projects in the past 9 years.
Ella is one of the most talented young cinematographers in Australia, and won multiple Australian and overseas awards for her amazing, world-class cinematography, from music video to documentary.

Visual Effects Supervisor / 3D / Art Director
Zenon Kohler is one of the most talented and awarded visual effects artists and VFX supervisors in Australia - starting his career in advertising and design, moving on to Animal Logic and now the Creative Director at Cutting Edge - working as both a Creative Director, VFX Supervisor and TV Commercial director.
He has worked on projects for almost all the major studios, broadcasters and online aggregators.
In 2013, Zenon was recognised as one of 'Australian Creative' magazine’s Power 20, firmly cementing him as a leader in the Australian post-production industry. His sheer love of the creative product drives him to deliver much more than expected–on every project.
